The drawhook shank and the body is welded together by using a friction welding technology. When welding is completed the welding seam is removed by turning.

A manipulator arm loads the drawhook body into the chuck and the shank is clamped in a vice.

The main spindle is rotated at high speed and the shank clamped in the vice is pressed against the rotating drawhook body.

The welding seam is removed from the shank. Another manipulator arm unloads the workpiece.
