ABOUT US
Machine
tool building at Csepel has been going on since 1933 (MANFRED
WEISS WORKS).
The building of machine tools started on the
basis of license purchases and in due course, machine tools
of our own design and construction were being manufactured.
From
the second half of the '30s, the mass-produced machine tools
were exported to Europe and to all over the world. As a result
of this, more than 40,000 Csepel machine tools have been delivered
to 60 countries around the world.
Throughout
the decades, considerable tradition, know-how, research &development,
and manufacturing experiences have been accumulated in the field
of machine tool building. An important event during the development
of the Csepel Machine Tool Factory had been the establishment
of the manufacturing of machine tools with numerical control
in cooperation with the firm Krupp and the Technische Hochschule
Aachen (Technical College Aachen). Later, the production of
Csepel designed and manufactured NC milling machines and lathes
was started.
Simultaneously,
the based-based production of precision thread-grinding machines
(MATRIX) and the development of high-precision gear-grinding
machines were also introduced.In addition, highly developed
technologies were introduced in cooperation with leading firms,
such as LINDNER, KAISER, BURGHARDT und WEBER, SHW, and
Klingelnberg.Developing a family of modular machining
centers fitted with traversing frame universal head and accessories
carried on the tradition of making custom-made machine tools.
The
Csepel Machine Tool Factory was privatized on March 1st 1991
and Csepel F+K Machine Tool Factory Co. was founded as a German-Hungarian
joint venture.The factory was acquired by the Excel Group (Singapore)
after the years of recession (1992-94.) and the name was changed
to Excel Csepel Machine Tools Ltd.
The
present company manufactures machine tools on small-scale orders
that are marketed on the domestic market as well as exported
to Europe, USA, and Asia Pacific primarily.

In our production program the following family range is available:
The development of SL-500 took place in 1981 in cooperation
with the firm HEID. After the foundation of the joint venture
both machine tools underwent a modernizing process and were
adapted to recent market conditions in compliance with today's
accuracy, performance and aesthetics requirements. After the
success of the SL-500 model, the range was quickly expanded
to the present family range.
Precision and ultra-precision machine tools
Our recent production program consists of two machine tools:
- Gear-grinding machine type PGG/326/10
- Ultra-precision lathe type UP
In 1987 and 1989 the ultra-precision lathe was developed with
the aid of a license and know-how. It represents a „high-tech"
machine used in the field of „precision- or super finish"
machining processes. The machining accuracy of the machine is
in the „under-micron" range and the attainable surface
finish is better than that of the grinding.
Besides our production program of machine tools, the Excel Csepel
Machine Tools Ltd further provides services in designing, construction,
overhauling and assembling of machine tools. We also provide
sub-contract machining services.
The company was
audited according to the ISO 9001 Standard in April 1998.

are in compliance with CE regulations.
